KQ98 CARES FOR SEPTEMBER: STEPPIN’ OUT IN PINK
Written by Jesse Skelley on September 4, 2025
KQ98 Cares, thanks to the support of WinnMed, was able to donate $500 to Steppin’ Out In Pink!
For two decades, Steppin’ Out in Pink has been more than just a walk—it’s been a movement. This non-competitive fundraising event invites people of all ages and abilities to join together in support of breast cancer research and patient programs at Gundersen’s Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care. Beyond the walk, participants enjoy a Survivor Social, live entertainment, shopping with local vendors, and delicious food trucks.
The idea was born 20 years ago when Patty Brown, undergoing treatment for breast cancer, dreamed of creating a community walk. With the encouragement of her friend Robyn Tanke, what seemed “a lot crazy” at the time took flight—and has only grown since.
Looking forward, Steppin’ Out in Pink continues its mission by supporting the Kabara Cancer Research Institute Endowment Fund, ensuring that Gundersen’s groundbreaking cancer research will benefit patients locally and nationally for generations to come.
