BACK 2 SCHOOL PROGRAM

As summer break begins for many families, others are already preparing for the upcoming school year. That’s why the annual Back 2 School Program is once again bringing the La Crosse community together to help local students start the school year with the supplies they need.

Mid-West Family is partnering with Catholic Charities and local sponsors to collect backpacks, school supplies, and monetary donations to support area families. Last year, the program helped 500 families and more than 1,000 students, and organizers hope to reach even more children in 2026 with a fundraising goal of $15,000.

Families needing assistance must submit their applications by July 17, 2026.

Community members can help by donating backpacks, school supplies, or making an online financial contribution. Those who would rather volunteer are encouraged to watch the Catholic Charities Facebook page for upcoming opportunities or contact Courtney Kress at ckress@cclse.org.

A special thank you goes out to this year’s generous sponsors: Altra Federal Credit Union, April Carrier Farmers Insurance, and Gaming Generations. With the community’s support, hundreds of local students can head back to school confident, prepared, and ready to learn.

There will be three Back2School events where families can pick up supplies.

Erickson BGC – July 28th: 5:30 pm-7 pm – 1331 Clinton Street, La Crosse
La Crosse Center – August 4th: 9 am-12 pm and 1 pm-5 pm – Arena Floor
Mathy BGC – August 11: 5:30 pm-7 pm – 811 8th Street South, La Crosse
