MAN GETS THROWN BY WILD BISON AT YELLOWSTONE

A frightening encounter at Yellowstone National Park has gone viral after a bull bison charged and tossed Washington retiree Carl Isom-McDaniel nearly eight feet into the air. The attack happened Friday evening at Bridge Bay Campground while McDaniel was visiting the park with his grandson.

Despite suffering multiple broken bones, McDaniel remained conscious and even joked with those helping him while waiting for an ambulance. Photographer Mike MacLeod, who captured the dramatic incident on video, said the bison had been displaying aggressive behavior toward several groups earlier in the evening, likely due to the start of mating season.

McDaniel and his grandson were reportedly keeping a safe distance and did nothing to provoke the animal. His grandson escaped unharmed, while nearby visitors helped distract the bison until it retreated.

Yellowstone officials continue to remind visitors to stay at least 75 feet away from bison, especially during mating season when the massive animals can become unpredictable. Even when following park rules, wildlife encounters can change in an instant, making awareness and caution essential.
