TORNADO RAVAGES PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST WISCONSIN

A powerful EF-2 tornado tore through eastern Wisconsin Monday afternoon, leaving a trail of destruction across Outagamie and Winnebago counties. The storm, packing estimated winds of at least 111 mph, touched down south of Appleton before moving through Neenah, Menasha, and Oshkosh, damaging homes, toppling trees, and snapping power lines.

Officials reported several injuries but, fortunately, no fatalities. The tornado was even spotted as a waterspout over Lake Winnebago before continuing its destructive path. More than 400,000 utility customers across Wisconsin and Illinois lost power at the height of the storms, though restoration efforts quickly reduced that number.

Emergency crews worked around the clock clearing debris and responding to damaged neighborhoods, while officials urged residents to stay off the roads to allow first responders access. Gov. Tony Evers pledged state assistance as damage assessments continue. The severe weather outbreak also brought large hail, flash flooding, and additional suspected tornadoes across the region.
