IGUANA RUNS LOOSE IN FEDEX STORE

A routine FedEx delivery turned into an unexpected reptile roundup when an iguana escaped from its shipping box at a Memphis facility, sending employees scrambling. The adventurous lizard managed to slip free while waiting to be picked up by its new owner, Roderick Duncan, creating a surprising scene inside the air-conditioned building.

Duncan had planned to collect the iguana from the FedEx location because of the hot weather. FedEx permits certain harmless reptiles to be shipped overnight within the U.S., provided shippers receive prior approval and use approved packaging.

Fortunately, the runaway adventure ended peacefully. Duncan quickly captured his new pet without anyone getting hurt. The iguana is now safely settling into its new enclosure while adjusting to its surroundings. Duncan says he’ll wait about a week before regularly feeding and handling the reptile. Despite the dramatic escape, he describes his new companion as “pretty chill,” proving this scaly traveler has already had quite the first day home.
