Making a bang in the community while helping youth and veterans get their dream buck, KQ98 Cares and Morrie’s Volkswagen La Crosse donated $500 to the Rutting Ridge Foundation.

“This community is just rich with charity and good people, and we need to keep exposing that,” Ryan Riste of Morries said.

Rutting Ridge started in 2015 after Jarrad Fluekiger saw a photo on Facebook of a kid who lost his legs in a horse accident. The first thing he wanted to do when he got out of the hospital was shoot his bow, so Fluekiger thought it would be fitting to take him hunting in Buffalo County.

Giving the boy a chance to move in the woods again, Fluekiger and friends raised enough money to donate an action track chair.

“It touched our hears as much as it touched the family’s heart,” Fluekiger said.

Since that time, they’ve been donating one to two action track chairs a year.

“It gets the kids outdoors,” Fluekiger said. “It gives them a positive attitude, and it gives them a reason to keep moving forward.”

Those interested in donating to the foundation can find information online.
