Norwegian Hollow Hideaway: Viroqua, WI

The Norwegian Hollow Hideaway is a little off the beaten path, but worth the drive to Viroqua. It definitely fits the meaning of what a “hidden gem” is. The drive is scenic (once the grass grows and trees bloom) and it’s nestled in a beautiful spot surrounded by trees and fields. There’s a stream close by for those interested in trout fishing. They also have an Airbnb for rent upstairs.

It’s a spacious place inside with lots of room. Matt and the staff were friendly and attentive. They have several options for food on the menu including over a dozen delicious appetizers. I tried the battered mushrooms and they were excellent.

They do have daily specials. I went on Thursday which they have specials on Mexican. I ordered the nacho platter which consisted of tortilla chips, seasoned beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, black olives and topped off with warm nacho cheese. It was big enough to feed two.

A buddy of mine got the taco pizza which was made with seasoned beef, cheese, lettuce, black olives, onions and tomatoes. Sour cream was served on the side. I had to steal a couple slices and it was excellent as the seasoned beef had lots of flavor.

The Norwegian Hollow Hideaway is fun place to go especially if you’re looking to get away from the city and explore something new. You can’t beat the price and quality of food. They have a small deck with picnic tables for once the weather warms up to enjoy a bite and drinks outdoors.

Give them a follow and check out their Facebook page here for hours and keep up to date on different things happening at Norwegian Hollow Hideaway.
