A shocking scene unfolded at Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville when a stolen car crashed through its front doors, shaking the entire building. Pastor Steve Wilson described the moment as “very overwhelming,” especially as the impact was captured on the church’s security cameras.
Footage shows the vehicle speeding down Glensford Drive, jumping a median with sparks flying, before smashing into the church entrance. Two masked individuals fled the scene, abandoning the wrecked car.
Police later arrested 18-year-old Demear Denning, charging him with possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, and more. One suspect remains at large.
Despite the $8,000-per-set damage to their newly installed doors, the church found humor in the situation. On Facebook, they joked, “Some people just can’t wait to get to church.”
Services will continue as scheduled, though attendees are asked to avoid the Narthex entrance while repairs are underway.
