FOR FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE, MAN TRIES REAL FOODS
Written by Jesse Skelley on July 25, 2025
For most of his life, Ben Sutter didn’t know what it meant to enjoy a real meal. Diagnosed at just 15 months old with eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE), a rare condition where his body attacked food as if it were dangerous, Ben survived on medically formulated juice boxes. Solid food was off-limits—until everything changed.
In 2021, a new medication called Dupixent cleared his system of inflammation. For the first time in 16 years, an endoscopy showed no reaction, and Ben was free to eat. Now 24, he’s experiencing food—crunchy toast, carrots, even granola bars—for the very first time.
The journey hasn’t been easy. From navigating texture sensitivities to learning how to prepare meals, Ben is adjusting to a world that’s always revolved around food. He’s documenting the adventure on TikTok, inspiring others with his message: “There’s a lot of life to enjoy, and it doesn’t have to be around food.”
@benlore4 First time trying tacos! TLDR, they’re spicy. Who would’ve guessed. #Benlore #foodie #foodtiktok #foodtok
