Two summers ago, Zach Swain invited his future father-in-law, Paul Kulick, to shoot hoops — but had a bigger goal: asking to marry Paul’s daughter, Hallie. Paul agreed, with two conditions — love her forever and learn sign language.
Zach kept his promise. After months of ASL classes and tutoring, he surprised Hallie’s Deaf parents during their July 2025 Alabama wedding by signing his vows. The emotional moment went viral, topping 3 million views, and deeply touched Paul and Gina Kulick, who said Zach made them feel truly included.
For Hallie, finding a partner willing to sign was essential, as it’s the language her family uses to stay connected. Zach’s heartfelt vows reaffirmed her choice, and the couple plans to raise future children in a bilingual home.
They continue ASL lessons today, committed to making it a permanent part of their lives — and their love story.
