One of TV’s most beloved animated comedies is back. King of the Hill, which originally ran from 1997 to 2009, has returned on Hulu with a brand-new season that balances nostalgia with timely humor.
The revival reintroduces us to Hank Hill, propane salesman and proud Texan, who comes home from a stint in Saudi Arabia to retire — though “relaxing” isn’t exactly in Hank’s DNA. His wife Peggy and grown son Bobby, now a 21-year-old running a Japanese-German-Texas fusion restaurant in Dallas, join him in facing a changed Arlen, Texas.
Fans will recognize the show’s trademark dry wit and social observations, as Hank reacts to everything from e-scooters to cultural clashes at Bobby’s restaurant. New voices join the cast, while tributes honor late actors who helped define the original run.
With its sharp mix of heart and humor, the revival proves Hank Hill still has plenty of wisdom (and exasperation) to share.
