MAN GIVES PARENTS TEXT ETIQUETTE LESSON VIA POWERPOINT

Generational gaps don’t just show up in fashion or music — they’re alive and well in texting, too. Case in point: 22-year-old Jason Saperstone, who recently went viral after creating a full-on PowerPoint presentation to teach his parents the “rules” of texting.
In his Instagram post, Saperstone explained how Boomers often misuse the “emphasis” reaction — the double exclamation mark you can add to messages. According to him, this reaction isn’t a catch-all for excitement. Instead, it’s meant to signal agreement, shared experience, or to grab someone’s attention when they’re ignoring you.
His parents weren’t the only ones confused. Many commenters admitted they’d been using the feature wrong, too. Some thought it meant “omg,” while others used it as a shocked response.
Saperstone admitted that Gen Z might be overcomplicating things, essentially inventing a secret texting language. Meanwhile, millennials continue to defend their beloved “lol” — proving no generation is safe from texting debates.
