TAKE A TOUR OF JOHNNY CASH’S ICONIC “CASH CABIN”

Written by on November 13, 2025

The Cash Cabin might look like a rustic retreat, but it’s one of the most historic recording studios in the world. Built by Johnny Cash in 1979 in Hendersonville, Kentucky, the cabin was originally a peaceful hideaway for Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash. Today, it’s owned and operated by their son, John Carter Cash, who continues to use it as a creative space for musicians he trusts.

A new video from Huckberry offers a rare glimpse inside the legendary studio, where icons like Eddy Arnold, Taylor Swift, and Johnny himself have left their mark—literally, with signatures adorning the cabin’s mantle. Many tracks from Cash’s American Recordings were created here. The cabin blends old and new, featuring Cash’s original furniture and mementos alongside state-of-the-art recording equipment. From its stained-glass tribute to Maybelle Carter to a “fish room” lined with family trophies, the Cash Cabin remains a timeless shrine to music history.
