“ZOOTOPIA 2” OUT NOW IN THEATRES EVERYWHERE

With the family in town and not much to do during the heavy snow Saturday, my wife and I were invited to see “Zootopia 2” with my in-laws and our nephew. Before we went I’d said, “Well, I haven’t seen the first “Zootopia”, but they assured me that you could probably figure it out.

“Zootopia 2” reunites unlikely partners Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, diving even deeper into their hilariously mismatched dynamic. This time around, the rookie rabbit and sly fox find themselves on probation after one big mistake — and Chief Bogo isn’t letting them off easy. The sequel leans heavily into buddy-movie energy, with the pair navigating therapy sessions, constant disagreements, and a mission that tests their ability to respect each other.

Directors Byron Howard and Jared Bush return to expand Zootopia’s vibrant world, from Sahara Square to Tundratown, while adding fresh characters like the wealthy Lynxley family and Gary De’Snake, a lovable viper who steals scenes and artifacts. A chaotic gala heist, a new Shakira track from Gazelle, and stunningly detailed chase sequences keep the film racing forward.

Packed with jokes, world-building, and smart social commentary, “Zootopia 2” reminds viewers that peaceful coexistence — even between reptiles and mammals — is worth the effort.
