ILLINOIS SHARES 2025 REJECTED VANITY LICENSE PLATES

Illinois drivers got a humorous reality check in 2025 when the Secretary of State’s office revealed some of the vanity license plates that didn’t make the cut. Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias shared a roundup of rejected applications in a video, highlighting just how creative — and questionable — some drivers tried to be.
Out of nearly 56,000 vanity plate requests submitted this year, more than 550 were denied for being offensive, inflammatory, profane, or simply too hard to read. Among the rejected gems were plates like “IBPOOPN,” and “ICUP” Other declined entries included “BBL,” and “BDASMOM.”
Giannoulias wrapped up with a friendly reminder to aspiring wordsmiths: creativity is encouraged, but cleanliness counts. Otherwise, your clever idea may land squarely on Illinois’ naughty list instead of the road.
