It was “Sweet Cuddly Mayhem” in the Sweetest Place on Earth as the Hershey Bears once again turned hockey into heartwarming magic. During Sunday’s world-famous GIANT Teddy Bear Toss, fans filled the ice with an astonishing 81,796 teddy bears and stuffed animals after Hershey’s first goal, scored by defenseman Louie Belpedio just 2:55 into the game. The spectacle pushed the all-time total since 2001 to an incredible 648,246 stuffed animals, reinforcing why this is considered one of the best promotions in all of sports.
All of the plush donations will be distributed to more than 60 local and regional charities through the Hershey Bears Cares program, bringing comfort to children and families in need. Adding to the impact, The GIANT Company pledged a $100,000 donation to Children’s Miracle Network in honor of late Bears superfan Jeff Sweigart. The Bears capped the night with a 5–2 win in front of a sold-out crowd, proving generosity and great hockey go hand in hand.
