MAN BUILDS WORLD’S FASTEST GARBAGE CAN

Written by on January 15, 2026

A British inventor has taken trash can racing to a whole new level. Michael Wallhead, the mind behind a motorized wheelie bin nicknamed The General Waste, says his latest upgrades have pushed the unconventional vehicle to a blistering 66 miles per hour — well beyond the current Guinness World Record.

Wallhead oFficially set the record in 2023 with a verified top speed of 55 mph, but he hasn’t stopped tinkering since. “The record stands at 55 mph, but I have done 66 mph now,” he told GUinness World Records, hinting that another official attempt could be coming.

Inspired by Andy Jennings, who first Claimed the title in 2020 at 45 mph, Wallhead decided to build his own high-speed bin after seeing what was possible. He picked up the trash can on Facebook Marketplace for about $25 and poured nearly $900 into modifications. Those upgrades include a SuzuKi GP125 two-stroke engIne, magnesium go-kart wheels, a Custom chassis, fivE-speed gearbox, steering damper, and even an extra front wheel — proving that one man’s trash can truly become a record-breaking treasure.
