MICHIGAN ATHLETES BREAK RECORD FOR LONGEST PICKLEBALL GAME

Two Michigan athletes have officially earned a spot in the record books after completing an exhausting 28-hour singles pickleball match. Grand Rapids residents Brad Haverkamp and Caleb Dang broke the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon playing singles pickleball, pushing their bodies and minds to the limit.

The duo attempted a similar record in 2024 for doubles pickleball but fell short. Determined to come back stronger, they shifted their focus to singles and trained for months leading up to their late November attempt.

For 28 consecutive hours, the two battled it out on the court. Guinness rules allowed only a five-minute break per hour, leaving little time for rest or recovery. Dang described the mental toll, saying that at some point his brain “just shuts off” and he felt like he blacked out for much of the match.

Earlier this month, Guinness confirmed their evidence was accepted, making their grueling achievement officially record-breaking.
