KQ98 CARES FOR MARCH: SPECIAL OLYMPICS WISCONSIN
Written by Jesse Skelley on March 4, 2026
Special Olympics is more than a sports organization — it’s a global movement creating a more inclusive world through the power of competition and community. In Wisconsin, that mission comes to life every day as athletes of all abilities are welcomed, celebrated, and empowered to shine.
Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) provides year-round training and competition opportunities for thousands of athletes across the state, regardless of age or skill level. Competing in 18 Olympic-style sports, participants push themselves to set personal bests, build confidence, and defy expectations. From the pool to the slopes, athletes showcase their determination in sports like swimming, basketball, track and field, and snowboarding.
Beyond medals and milestones, Special Olympics builds friendships, strengthens families, and unites communities. Athletes have the opportunity to compete locally, nationally, and even on the world stage at events like the World Games.
Together, through sport, Wisconsin is creating a healthier, more joyful, and more inclusive future — one athlete at a time.
