“COFFEE SHOP” IN CHINA HAS BEEN NAMED “WORLD’S MOST EXTREME”

Sipping coffee is usually a calm, cozy ritual — but at Gushi Cliff Coffee in Fujian, China, it’s anything but ordinary. Perched on a sheer cliff face about 60 meters above sea level, the café proudly calls itself “the world’s most extreme café,” and it’s easy to see why.

The café consists of rectangular platforms bolted directly into the rock, serving as seating areas for brave customers. Getting there isn’t simple. Visitors must first hike a 30-minute via ferrata trail before being carefully rappelled down to the platforms by trained instructors.

Open since 2004, the breathtaking spot recently went viral as social media clips showcased its jaw-dropping views. Due to growing demand, reservations are required, and no one is allowed to descend without supervision.

A cup of coffee costs 398 yuan (about $58), covering insurance, gear rental, and instructors — and once you’re there, you can stay as long as you dare.
