PREQUEL TV SERIES, “TED” STREAMING NOW ON PEACOCK

Seth MacFarlane says the future of the Ted TV series is uncertain, and fans hoping for a third season may be disappointed. During a recent interview with TheWrap, the series creator revealed that the foul-mouthed teddy bear’s live-action adventures might be over because the show is simply too expensive to produce. According to MacFarlane, Peacock and Universal told him there wasn’t a way to significantly lower the production costs, largely due to the heavy visual effects required to bring Ted to life.
MacFarlane said the Season 2 finale was written with this possibility in mind. In the final scene, teenage John—played by Max Burkholder—heads into a gym, hinting at his transformation into the adult version of the character played by Mark Wahlberg in the original 2012 film.
Despite the uncertainty around Season 3, MacFarlane praised the production and visual effects teams for making the ambitious series possible. Fans can still expect more Ted, though, as an animated spin-off is already in development at Peacock.
