Bauer’s Market and Garden Center presents our 7AM pledge/Shout-Out to Frankie Yankovic, ” The Polka King”. Frankie passed away October 14, 1998, He was 83. Frankie won a Grammy award and He and His band entertained generations of Polka fans. He played in our area many, many times and was quite popular. In 1942, He enlisted in the US Army, because of His natural dexterity He was assigned as a flame thrower carrier in the infantry in Patton’s Third Army in the Battle of The Bulge. He was wounded in Action and Froze His hands and feet while waiting for medical assistance. He healed, received the Purple Heart and the rest is Polka history. ” Clap You Hands……………Stomp your feet !…………………..Polka Music can’t be beat”……………Yankovic.
