Emmy Nominees Released Today After A Year Of Binge Worthy Shows

Written by on July 13, 2021

This last year was full of TV shows and a dramatic increase of viewers due to the pandemic. It seemed like I could not talk to anyone – from 6 feet apart or over Zoom that didn’t watch the same shows I did. People were starving for entertainment and thanks to every streaming service available we got it. It all started with “The Tiger King” with a dash of “The Queen’s Gambit”. That was followed by a heavy helping of Star Wars and Disney programming with “The Mandalorian” and “Wanda Vision” and “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier”. It all seemed to end with the “Friends Reunion Special” which we could actually talk about back at work in person. That was all sprinkled with binging of reruns of “The Office” and “Big Bang Theory”. On TV and basic cable they did their best as well to work around restrictions. Filming with masks and shields on and actually incorporating the pandemic into their programming. It will be strange for younger viewers watching reruns in a few years to see those masks and wonder what that was all about. Even “Saturday Night Live” stayed “live” by doing bits over Zoom and doing their show from the actors homes. I know award shows can feel self serving. I get that. However, this year I kind of feel we owe it to them because they were what we had to keep ourselves distracted from doing basically nothing. With the extensive list of categories there are many programs I watched, and some I didn’t get to. Take a look and see if any of your favorite pandemic programs made the list.
