Zebras Caught Taking a Stroll on a Wisconsin Highway

Who needs to take an expensive African safari or a trip to the zoo to see zebras when there is the town of Seymour, Wisconsin.

The town which is approximately twenty miles west of Green Bay and has a population of about 3,400 people is going viral after a local garbage truck driver shared video of two zebras strolling down a rural county highway.

David Haupt spotted what he thought were horses when he was out on his route last week. He told local television station WBAY, that as he got closer he realized, nope, those are definitely zebras. He dialed 9-1-1 and told the dispatcher, “I’m right outside of Seymour, there’s a couple of zebras walking down the middle of the road, and if you think I’m kidding, I’m not.”

Haupt was worried about the safety of the animals, and any potential drivers coming down the road and chased the zebras into a nearby field. The Outagamie Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin DNR gave the all-clear as the zebras belonged to owners nearby who picked them and took them home.

Usually if someone in Wisconsin sees an animal of the black and white variety waltzing down the road it’s usually someone’s cow that got loose. You can now add zebras to the list.
