MICHIGAN FIREFIGHTERS SAVE THREE PEOPLE FROM APARTMENT FIRE

Written by on January 23, 2026

Firefighters in Michigan pulled off a dramatic, life-saving rescue Tuesday night, saving two adults, a child, and even the family cat from a fast-moving apartment fire — all while battling brutal subzero conditions.

The Wyoming Fire Department responded around 8:45 p.m. to reports of a structure fire and arrived to find heavy smoke and flames racing toward the roof of a third-floor apartment. Crews were quickly told multiple residents were trapped. Helmet-camera video released by the city shows firefighters urgently shouting, “Do not jump,” as they raised a 35-foot ladder to a window engulfed in smoke.

In a tense moment, a woman handed a child out the window to a firefighter, thanking crews as they brought everyone safely down. All three residents were treated for smoke inhalation and taken to a local hospital, though injuries were not life-threatening.

Firefighters worked in single-digit temperatures and wind chills below zero. Portions of the building later collapsed, and an excavator was used to fully extinguish the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
