A routine flight turned into a remarkable midair moment this weekend when a passenger aboard Caribbean Airlines Flight BW005 gave birth just before landing at New York’s JFK International Airport. The flight, traveling from Kingston, Jamaica, touched down shortly before noon on Saturday, but not before the unexpected arrival of a newborn.
According to air traffic control recordings, the pilot alerted ground crews that a passenger had gone into labor and requested medical assistance upon arrival. In a lighthearted exchange, a controller even joked about naming the baby “Kennedy.”
Once on the ground, medical personnel were ready and provided care to both mother and child. Caribbean Airlines praised its crew for their calm and professional handling of the situation, noting that all procedures were followed to ensure safety and comfort onboard. Despite the surprise delivery, no emergency was declared during the flight, making for a smooth—yet unforgettable—journey.
