KQ98 Cares Is Helping New Horizons Bring Attention To Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Written by on October 1, 2020

Tony from KQ98 and Ian from The La Crosse Regional Airport present a check for $1000 to Ann from New Horizons Shelter and Outreach Center on behalf of KQ Cares, the airport, and Mattresses and More in Winona

New Horizons Shelter & Outreach Centers provide safety and services to adults and families who have experienced domestic and sexual abuse. New Horizons is the only shelter within a 65-mile radius of La Crosse. But they’re more than a shelter. They have outreach services and can help victims of abuse, even if they’re not ready or too scared to leave their abuser. Safety planning is one of the biggest services that New Horizons provides to victims of abuse.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It’s an opportunity to educate and engage our community and help people learn more about domestic abuse and how as individuals and a community we can work to break the cycle of abuse. You’ll see purple ribbons tied to the trees and street lights along Main Street in La Crosse to help raise awareness for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. SO many people suffer in silence, due to abuse. It is not your fault. You are not alone. Help is available.
