KQ98 CARES: FREEDOM HONOR FLIGHT

Freedom Honor Flight has been giving veterans from the La Crosse area a chance to experience a powerful and unforgettable journey since 2008. The organization’s mission is simple but meaningful: fly veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor and recognize their service to the country.

The one-day trip includes stops at landmarks such as the World War II Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Marine Corps War Memorial. Veterans are selected on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to World War II veterans and those facing terminal illness.

Every veteran is paired with a trained volunteer guardian who assists throughout the day. Freedom Honor Flight operates entirely through donations and volunteers, with no paid staff involved. Community fundraising events help cover travel, meals, medical supervision, and transportation costs.
