Bauer’s market and garden Center Welcomes in February with Today’s Pledge of Allegiance with DUKE. February 1st, 1943 The US Army authorized the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during WW II. The group was originally composed of 4000 Men. Before They were deployed to Europe, the 442nd had swollen to 14,000 volunteers. Of 14,000 the Unit was awarded 4000 Purple hearts. 4000 Bronze Stars and 21 Congressional Medals of Honor. making it one of the Most decorated outfits in WW II. The 442nd was made up almost exclusively of second generation Japanese Americans.
