KQ98 CARES: HOUSTON COUNTY VETERANS SERVICE
Written by Jesse Skelley on May 5, 2026
Minnesota is leading the way when it comes to supporting veterans, thanks in part to its County Veterans Service Offices (CVSOs). Each county is required to provide a dedicated Veterans Service Officer, ensuring local veterans and their families have access to the benefits they’ve earned. These officers are nationally accredited and stay current through ongoing training, helping them navigate the ever-changing landscape of federal and state programs.
CVSOs connect veterans to resources like healthcare, financial assistance, education benefits, and more—at no cost. They also work closely with organizations like the American Legion and VFW to process claims efficiently.
Accessibility is a priority, with outreach in community locations and even home visits for those unable to travel. In Houston County alone, around 5,000 people may qualify for services.
From housing to healthcare, CVSOs are a vital link between veterans and the support systems designed to serve them. Find out more about Houston County Veterans Service here
