Rotary Lights at Riverside Park Through the End of the Year

Written by on December 22, 2021

Despite a few setbacks this year, the magical tradition of the Rotary Lights are going on now through New Year’s Eve at Riverside Park if you haven’t had a chance to walk or drive-thru the light display.

In October, as preparation began it was discovered that the lights were vandalized as the chords were cut on around 70 electrical pedestals. The reason was believed to be because of the copper content that could potentially be sold for money. An amazing group of volunteers came together to make sure the lights were able to get up and running according to schedule debuting for the season the day after Thanksgiving.

The setbacks continued on December 15th when a round of late-season severe thunderstorms and strong winds damaged some of the light displays. The community once again rallied and after closing for two days, the lights were back up and running on Friday, December 17th.

The holiday lights are open daily from 5pm-10pm (or until after the last car in line at 10pm) with one exception below.

  • New Year’s Eve: 5PM-1AM

In addition to the lights, there is other live entertainment. Check out a full list of scheduled events here. The Rotary Lights are free, however monetary donations and/or non-perishable food items to support local food organizations are encouraged when exiting the park.
