KENTUCKY BUSINESS OWNER WIPES SCHOOL LUNCH DEBT
Written by Jesse Skelley on June 10, 2026
A Lexington business owner is making a big difference for local families by helping erase thousands of dollars in student lunch debt. Adam Dahl, owner of Dahlhus Fudge, has raised funds through his “Feed the Kids” campaign and is preparing to submit the initiative’s second — and largest — grant yet.
The latest donation will help pay off nearly $40,000 in outstanding lunch balances owed by students and families in need. Dahl shared on social media that school officials told him the end of the academic year is the ideal time to distribute the funds because it helps identify students facing the greatest financial challenges.
His mission focuses on supporting families with the most urgent needs. Dahl recently spoke with a school nutrition worker who revealed that some students have accumulated lunch debt exceeding $600.
After this grant is awarded, the campaign will reset and begin fundraising again through summer events
