Close-Up Video of Michigan and Wisconsin Basketball Fight

Written by on February 21, 2022

The time after a basketball game is for when coaches and players come together from both teams to show each other mutual respect. Apparently that was out the window when the two teams got together to shake hands following the Badgers 77-63 win over the Wolverines on Sunday.

A new video shows an apparent disagreement between Badgers head coach Greg Gard and Michigan coach Juwan Howard. Gard tried to shake Howard’s hand who tried to force his way by Gard without acknowledging him. Howard is seen grabbing Gard by his collar saying, “don’t touch me, don’t f***ing touch me!” The two exchanged words before being separated.

Things began to escalate, as a hand can be seen, that of Howard’s, taking a swat at Badger assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft’s face. Both teams began pushing and shoving with punches being thrown.

Below is a video of the fight broadcasted on television.

Below is a view from what appears to be a camera phone close to the action.

The Big Ten said it would review the matter for “swift and appropriate disciplinary action.” Also, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement that he apologized to Wisconsin AD Chris McIntosh, and university president Mary Sue Coleman was reaching out to Wisconsin chancellor Rebecca Blank.
