THE DRAGON BOATS ARE COMING!

Written by on June 1, 2019

The seventh annual Big Blue Dragon Boat Festival returns to Copeland Park on Saturday, June 22nd. Hosted by Mayo Clinic Health System and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse, the dragon boat races will take place on the Black River.

Equal parts sporting and spectacle, the Big Blue Dragon Boat Festival promotes fitness and teamwork, while supporting area breast cancer survivors and benefiting healthy lifestyle programs at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse.

Over 50 teams will compete on a 300-meter course in an energized race to the finish line. The teams paddle in sleek, colorful Hong Kong-style dragon boats, provided by the event.

There is no charge to attend and spectators are encouraged to come cheer on the teams. In addition to the dragon boat races, the festival will include music, free family activities and food.
