NASCAR PIT CREW MEMBER BEING HAILED AS A HERO

Written by on May 22, 2026

A frightening moment at Dover Motor Speedway turned into a story of quick thinking and heroism after a NASCAR pit crew member stepped in to prevent a potentially dangerous accident. Hendrick Motorsports tire carrier Donovan Williams reacted instantly when a massive 4,000-pound pit box began rolling down a slope toward a crowd during an event last Friday.

Video shows Williams trying to stop the runaway equipment before it reached several people standing in its path. Reporter Amanda Busick was directly in danger, and Williams’ actions likely prevented much more serious injuries. The impact sent Williams to the hospital, where he was treated for pain and shock after absorbing the force of the collision.

Williams later described the incident as one of the most terrifying experiences of his life, saying thoughts of his family and future raced through his mind. Busick has stayed in contact during his recovery, and both say they’re grateful the outcome wasn’t worse. Their unexpected bond now serves as a reminder of how fast things can change—and how one split-second decision can make all the difference.
