Written by on March 22, 2021

It’s not often that we hear of WWII veteran making it over 100 years old. Navy Veteran James “Jim” Knudson passed away on St. Patrick’s Day at the age 102. Born in Minneapolis he made his home in the Ettrick area. He enlisted at 18 and attended Northwestern. This helped him earn the rank of Naval Officer-Ensign, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, and then full Lieutenant. He served in World War II in the South Pacific. He took flight training during World War II at the Naval Air Corps Base in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jim was very involved in the community and his church.
