Lays Introduces Chips Grown From Potatoes with Dirt From NFL Stadiums

Written by on January 12, 2022

Lays is introducing a new chip with an interesting background and concept.

They’ve been growing potatoes in dirt taken from NFL stadiums, and made a limited-edition chip called “Golden Grounds” with the tagline, “Grown in Glory.” They used dirt in 29 of the 32 NFL stadiums, with the exception of the Browns, Bengals and Broncos, not sure why they were excluded, to grow the potatoes for their new chip. Teams that play on turf, they used dirt from a different location within the stadium and mixed it with more dirt to grow the potatoes.

Now, the chips will NOT be sold in stores and you can only win them. If you go to their website here, and click on your favorite team’s chip bag, that will automatically tag them in a tweet. Then, you have to post a photo or video to prove you’re a die-hard fan of your team and include the various hashtags that they list.

They are doing several giveaways between now and January 21st, and are only giving out 200 bags per team. As a fan of the Chicago Bears, I’m sure the Bears bag of “Golden Grounds” will taste naturally awful.
