“LUKE DUKE”, TOM WOPAT CALLED IN TO TONY AND THEN PERFORMED AT GREAT RIVER SOUND

We all have those characters and stars we loved as a kid. For me and my friends there was one show we could not miss every Friday night, and that was “The Dukes Of Hazzard”. The exploits of good ol’ boys Bo and Luke Duke running around the country dirt roads in their orange Dodge Charger, the General Lee fixing problems and getting out of tight spots by simply jumping a creek bed was legendary. We felt a connection to it because even though is was in Georgia it felt like it could just as easily be in our own rural community. From 1979-1985 the country got pulled in to their world and the characters became iconic and showed there was more to the world than just the east and west coast. Tom Wopat played Luke Duke and also had a love of music. He still has been busy acting, but when he’s not hanging out on the family farm in Lodi, WI he sings at festivals. He came to Onalaska and sang at Dash Park with a General Lee replica as well. I got the chance to talk with him about “The Dukes Of Hazzard”, singing, and his inspirations.
