COUNTRY STAR OF THE MONTH: DUSTIN LYNCH

Written by on July 8, 2023

When it comes to country artists, Dustin Lynch is still well rooted in the sound and style that most folks grew up on. Sure, he can have a pop sound to his songs now and again. When he takes the stage though he is more likely to be wearing a cowboy hat than a ballcap. He could be donning a medical cap of some sort if he had taken a different career path. It all started with his first single “Cowboys and Angels” that made it to number 2 on the charts.

In 2003, Lynch graduated from Tullahoma High School. In 2007, Lynch graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee with a B.S. degree in biology. He said he chose Lipscomb because it is located near the Bluebird Café where he would play and learn the craft of songwriting while attending college. Although Lynch said he was interested in going to medical school, he decided to pursue a career in music. Lynch has had consistent hits almost year after year. In 2014 he was the ACM winner for best new artist. That’s when he really took off with a string of numver one hits starting with “Where It’s At” that lead to 7 additional number one hits.

Dustin has probably been one of the most consistent artists on the charts with music coming out and putting hit songs along with them. His recent song “Stars Like Confetti” is climbing the charts and is a fun mix of country and pop. It’s a fun party song and is made to get you out of your seat. One fun fact is that the video was filmed at Country Jam in Eau Claire! Now he’ll be bringing the party to Country Boom to keep partying in the tri-states! Maybe we’ll be in his next video.
