Age apparently doesn’t slow down everyone’s need for speed. An 85-year-old Florida man is facing charges after deputies say he was involved in a late-night street race in Lake County.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted two vehicles speeding on U.S. Highway 27 and County Road 33 near Leesburg around 11:40 p.m. on June 12. Radar indicated a red Corvette was traveling at 125 mph, while a gray sports car driven by William Bosworth was clocked at 110 mph in a 45 mph zone.
When questioned by deputies, Bosworth denied racing, claiming the other driver swerved toward him. He said he accelerated to “get away from him before we caused a problem.”
Bosworth also explained that he was simply “out having a little ride in my favorite car.”
Body camera footage captured the encounter, and Bosworth was arrested on charges of street racing and dangerous excessive speeding.
