LAINEY WILSON PRANKS FANS IN THE CROWD AT STAGECOACH
Written by Jesse Skelley on April 29, 2026
Lainey Wilson didn’t wait for the spotlight on the Mane Stage to make her mark at Stagecoach—she hit the crowd first, just not as herself. Ahead of her headlining set, Wilson went undercover as “Britney West,” a gold-clad, valley girl–voiced character complete with a black wig, cowboy boots, and a Temecula backstory. Roaming the festival grounds with a mic, she interviewed unsuspecting fans, many of whom named Lainey Wilson as the artist they were most excited to see—without realizing they were talking to her. Some even sang her songs right to her face.
The prank paid off with hilarious and heartwarming reactions when she revealed her true identity. Later, Wilson shared the moment online, delighting fans even more. Despite weather delays that briefly evacuated the festival, Wilson’s set still delivered, featuring surprise appearances from Riley Green and Little Big Town, making it a truly unforgettable night.
