MCDONALD’S BRINGS BACK FRIED APPLE PIES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 30 YEARS
Written by Jesse Skelley on June 18, 2026
McDonald’s is serving up a delicious slice of nostalgia as America celebrates its 250th birthday. The fast-food giant announced that its beloved Fried Apple Pie will return to select restaurants nationwide beginning June 23 for a limited time.
The iconic dessert, filled with 100% American-grown apples, will be available all day and pays tribute to one of McDonald’s most cherished menu items. The Fried Apple Pie first appeared at McDonald’s locations in East Tennessee during the 1960s, where owner/operator Litton Cochran introduced it to customers. Its popularity quickly spread, eventually making it a staple on the chain’s dessert menu.
To make the celebration even sweeter, McDonald’s is unveiling a giant 35-foot Fried Apple Pie monument along historic Route 66 just outside Chicago. The larger-than-life display debuts June 23 and honors both America’s semiquincentennial and fans’ enduring love for the classic dessert. For many, it’s a tasty trip down memory lane.
