KANSAS MAN DONATES 100TH GALLON OF BLOOD TO RED CROSS

Written by on June 19, 2026

A Kansas man is proving that one simple act can make a lifetime of difference. James Parker of Conway Springs recently donated his 100th gallon of blood to the American Red Cross, marking nearly 50 years of giving back.

Parker’s journey began during his first year as a high school principal. When students challenged him to donate if enough seniors participated in a blood drive, he felt it was his duty to lead by example. That single donation sparked a decades-long commitment to helping others.

Over the years, Parker donated whole blood regularly before switching to platelet donations, which can be made more often. He estimates his donations have helped save countless lives.

In 2004, Parker and his wife took their generosity nationwide, donating blood in every state.

Now approaching his 88th birthday, Parker isn’t slowing down. He’s hoping his wife will celebrate her own 100-gallon donation milestone next year, continuing their remarkable legacy of lifesaving generosity.
