As excitement builds for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Ontario has kicked off the celebration in record-breaking fashion. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) organized what is now officially the world’s largest game of human foosball.

The event took place on May 23 at Humber Polytechnic’s Lakeshore Campus West in Etobicoke, Ontario. A total of 254 participants took part, each holding onto giant horizontal poles designed to mimic the setup of a traditional foosball table. Players worked together to move and kick a soccer ball toward oversized goals, creating a life-sized version of the popular tabletop game.

Guinness World Records officially verified the achievement, confirming it as the largest human foosball game ever held.

Ontario Minister of Sport Neil Lumsden said the event perfectly captured the spirit of soccer, highlighting teamwork, energy, and shared experiences. With the World Cup approaching, the record-setting match provided a fun and memorable way for fans to celebrate the beautiful game.
