Pizza Crust Blob Overtakes Dumpster

Written by on September 7, 2021

A Domino’s Pizza place in Covington, Louisiana is going viral for it’s pizza dough, and not for its taste.

In preparation for Hurricane Ida and the likelihood of power outages from the storm which made landfall on the Gulf shores of Louisiana two weeks ago, Domino’s Pizza employees threw out leftover pizza dough into a dumpster. Ida is now long gone, and it can get hot in September in Louisiana as temperatures climbed into the 90s the last few days. What happens to dough as it heats up? Yes, it rises and expands.

Like something out of a horror movie, the dough expanded up and out of the dumpster and spilled onto the concrete below. One resident of the town, Nicole Amstutz decided to document the growth of the “blob” on Facebook.

I wonder if anyone called Ghostbusters!
