Elsie’s Bar & Grill: Caledonia, MN

This week I made the trip to Caledonia to visit Elsie’s Bar & Grill. As I walked in, I didn’t realize how big the place actually is. They have a lot of restaurant seating up front followed by a short walkway into another room, which is the bar area with additional tables for dining. There is also another room to rent for small budget weddings, parties and more along with an outdoor patio during the warmer months.

The atmosphere was great and clean. Elsie was a wonderful, gracious host and very friendly. Watch the video below as Elsie describes what it is about her place that people enjoy, and the dish that she personally made for me and my taste buds.

I was served broasted baked chicken along with mashed potatoes and gravy, a side of corn and a slice of freshly baked homemade bread with butter. A trip to the salad bar was also included. The chicken was juicy and tender, and easy to cut with a fork. The mashed potatoes and gravy remind me of my grandma’s, the gravy was not too thick or runny, and there is nothing better than a slice of warm, freshly homemade baked bread with melted butter. It all was fabulous.

Elsie’s has daily and weekly specials. Check them out and the menu here. Also, give them a like on Facebook here and follow them to stay updated on other specials and events.

Elsie’s is a relaxing place and I definitely felt welcomed and at home. Swing by if you’re ever near Caledonia, it’s definitely worth stopping at if you’re hungry or want some drinks.
