A DAUGHTER’S TOUCHING TRIBUTE TO HER DAD

Alzheimer’s, let’s talk about it a bit. If you’ve never experienced it then consider yourself uneducated. That’s the sad part about this disease not a lot of people know much about it and what’s worse some don’t want to. When someone we know moves slower, can’t remember things very well, or gets easily confused out first thought is that they’re just getting old. In some cases that can be the case because those are normal occurrences. However, when it gets to an extreme there are different neurological conditions that can cause this including Alzheimer’s Disease. If you’ve ever had a family member or friend with it then you know how difficult it can be to see someone slowly forget everyone and everything they ever knew including you. It can make situations uncomfortable because people don’t understand what is happening or why someone is acting the way they are. Frustration is common not only with the person suffering with this disease but with those caring for them. Any disease that threatens the life of someone is scary and there can be struggles fighting them and, at times a cure or remission. Alzheimer’s has no cure and there are a few drugs that may slow its progress slightly, but in the end you slowly watch the person disappear right in front of you before the disease finally takes them forever. I’ve always called it “The Disease of 1000 Goodbyes” because you never know when that goodbye you give them will be the last they remember you as you and not some stranger they’ve never met before. I lost my father to it and my wife lost her grandmother to it and we’ve seen friends lose their family members to it and similar diseases. It is not easy. It is not always fast. It is not something to not talk about. That’s why I’m sharing this video of a daughter telling her father with Alzheimer’s why she got her latest tattoo.
