“WAYWARD WAYMOS” CAUSE TRAFFIC PROBLEMS IN ATLANTA NEIGHBORHOOD
Written by Jesse Skelley on May 19, 2026
Atlanta residents in one northwest neighborhood say they’ve had an unexpected visitor lately — and it’s not just one. Dozens of Waymo self-driving vehicles have reportedly been circling residential cul-de-sacs during early morning hours, leaving neighbors frustrated and concerned.
Residents on Battleview Drive told WSB-TV that the issue started a couple of months ago, but traffic dramatically increased in recent weeks. Some claim as many as 50 autonomous vehicles drove through their street between 6 and 7 a.m. in a single morning. The empty vehicles weren’t picking up passengers, raising questions about why they were there at all.
Parents say the extra traffic creates safety concerns for children, pets, and families in the neighborhood. One resident even placed a children-at-play sign in the street, which reportedly caused several Waymos to become confused and get stuck trying to turn around.
Waymo says it has since corrected the routing issue and remains committed to being a “good neighbor.”
