COUNTRY STAR OF THE MONTH: MAREN MORRIS

Written by on March 1, 2020

Maren Morris is possibly one of the hardest working artists in Nashville. Not only is she an accomplished songwriter and singer, she also has been a producer. Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson both have songs that Maren wrote. She’s a successful solo artist and has recently teamed up with Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby to form the group The Highwomen. In 2015 Maren self released her EP which later got picked up by record company Columbia Nashville where they re-released “My Church” the single that put her effectively on the map. Her talent was definitely recognized by those in the business as she was nominated for four Grammy Awards Best New Artist, Best Country Song, Best Country Album and took home a win for Best Country Solo Performance. Maren has won an CMA for Best New Artist and a ACM for Best New Female Vocalist Of The Year. Over the years she has been nominated for several awards and in 2019 her smash album “Girl” made her the recipient of a CMA for Best Album Of The Year.

Most recently she went to number one on the charts with her song “The Bones” where she stayed for two weeks. This is something that hasn’t been accomplished since Carrie Underwood did it in 2012 with “Blown Away”. Maren is adding one more title to her already successful life this month: Mom. She and her husband, Ryan Hurd are expecting their first child this and she plans to perform as long as she can until the baby arrives.
