COUNTRY STAR OF THE MONTH: BRETT ELDREDGE AS MR. CHRISTMAS

Written by on December 1, 2021

Brett Eldredge is a man of many talents, especially vocally. He has 5 number one hits starting in 2012 with his single “Don’t Ya”. Growing up in Illinois Brett is more mid-western than Southern Country. He headed to Nashville in 2009 when he wrote the single “I Think I’ve Had Enough” for Gary Allen. Brett released his first single ” Raymond” in 2010. When his debut album came out in 2012 it produced 2 more hits “Beat Of The Music” and “Mean To Me” that put Brett at the forefront of country music. On his next album, “Illinois” he boasted 3 number 1 hits. In 2015 he first released “Lose My Mind” which went to number one on a catchy, quirky tune that resonated with listeners. His next 2 singles “Drunk On Your Love” and “Wanna Be That Song” became quick hits and got plenty of attention as he was the opening act for Taylor Swift. Brett’s success was honored as he got to participate in a country mashup to celebrate 50 years of the CMA Awards.

Brett really showed his vocal chops when he did something a lot of artists do: release a Christmas album. However, Brett did something a bit different as he did not sing in his country music styling, but instead had a big band sound and sang in the vein that was more Frank Sinatra than George Jones. He release “Glow” in 2016 and with his title song gave us a new Christmas staple to put in the rotation. Whether original songs or the traditional mainstays Brett nails it with a sound that he should be singing in a smoky La Vegas lounge with the Rat Pack. It’s an album I’ve added to my Christmas playlist and it has really freshened it up. Brett has gone one notch up adding another Christmas album this year with his new release Mr. Christmas. While he has some Christmas staples on the album he has a few new songs to add to your holiday rotation with the title track and “Feels Like Christmas”. “Mr. Christmas” is a fun swinging tune that gets you feeling festive while the latter is a little more in the vein of having a little Christmas cuddling. With Brett continuing the crooner sound on the other Christmas favorites you’re sure to feel the spirit of the season.
